Kennedy Mweene (born December 11, 1984) is a Zambian footballer who plays for South African Premier Soccer League club Free State Stars as a goalkeeper. He is the current captain of his club and has been on many occasions captain of his country.

Club career

Mweene is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the South African PSL having won the Premier soccer leagues Best Goalkeeper of the Year award in the 2009/ 2010 season. The player has been in big demand with all of the top SA Big spending clubs but has remained loyal to his club Free State Stars. He is currently contracted until 30 June 2014. The player is represented by his business manager Ryan Hartslief of Bigtime Sports management in South Africa.

International career

He has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Zambia since making his debut in 2004 and was a participant at the 2006 African Nations Cup, 2008 African Nations Cup, 2010 African Nations Cup and the 2012 African Nations Cup. On 12 February 2012, Mweene kept a clean sheet during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Final and saved one penalty kick (as well as successfully converted his own) in the shootout to decide the game, which was eventually won by Zambia. He was chosen as the goalkeeper of the tournament.
