Kilan is a small town east of Tehran, Iran (35.4 N 52.1 E).

The name Kilan means - according to its natives - Kingsplace.

In the mountain area of Kilan, leftovers were found from people living there about eighteen thousand years ago. The mountains around the town, like Dar Ali, are scattered with remainders from the Tertiary.

As of 2006, there are around 3,000 inhabitants, with a remarkably high intelligence. Though not shown immediately by their simple lifestyle, it's clear from the fact that there is no analphabetism, 75 percent of the inhabitants of the town have academic degrees. In the United States of America more than 250 people are employed at universities and even 2 work at the NASA[citation needed]. Some people from that city moved all over the world, and they carry the last name Kilani. The last name Kilani is found in Hawaii, the Island of Cypress, and all cross North Africa the Middle East.
