DADA Lakhmi Chand was a poet of Haryanvi literature. He has been given the honour of surya kavi (Sun Poet) of Haryanvi Raagni and Saang. He is also referred to as the Shakespeare of Haryana”.[1][2] He was born in Jaati Kalan village of Sonepat district of Haryana State in 1903 in a Gaur Brahmin family and died at an age of only 45. As of 2013, awards in his name are conferred on people for their contributions to literature.
