The Lierna chair was designed by the Italian designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1960.[1][2]: 173  It is an upright dining-chair and is made of lacquered wood with a slightly padded plywood seat.[2]: 173 [3][4]: 79  It was commissioned and produced by Cassina and sold through Dino Gavina.[5]: 356
