Breweries in Philadelphia brew beer in the Delaware Valley, which includes the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and its suburbs. There are currently four major brewers in the area.
Saint Benjamin Brewing Company is a nanobrewery operating in Kensington, Philadelphia. The brewery is located in the historic carriage house and stables of the defunct Theo Finkenauer Brewery. Brewers Tim Patton and Christina Burris interpret classic styles and design new creations such as the India Cream Ale and Lavender Saison. The name “Saint Benjamin” is a reference to founding father Benjamin Franklin. The idea for this brewery was devised in founder Tim Patton’s 190 year old home and former firehouse in Philadelphia. The founder of the city’s fire companies, Franklin was also an avid home brewer. St. Ben's is located at 1710 N 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19122.
Flying Fish Brewing Company, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, about 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Philadelphia), is the largest craft brewer in New Jersey. Flying Fish produces Belgian Abbey Dubbel, Porter, English Special Bitter Ale, Extra Pale Ale, and many seasonal beers.
Philadelphia Brewing Company is at 2439 Amber Street in the Kensington neighborhood of the city. Philadelphia Brewing Co. brews Kenzinger, Walt Wit, Newbold IPA,Rowhouse Red, Joe Coffee Porter and seasonal beers. The 40,000-square-foot (3,700 m2) building is the original home of the Weisbrod and Hess brewery and was built in 1885.
Victory Brewing is located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Victory is arguably the area's most successful brewery. Victory's most popular beers include Hop Devil IPA, Golden Monkey Triple, and Prima Pils. Popular seasonals include Whirlwind Wit, Old Horizontal Barely Wine, Storm King Stout, Moonglow Weizenbock, Sunrise Weiss, Mad King Weiss, Sunset Dunkelweise, Workhorse Porter, Uncle Teddy's Bitter, and ESB.
Yards Brewing Company was established in 1994 and is at 901 Delaware Ave. Its lineup currently includes Philadelphia Pale Ale, IPA, ESA and Brawler. The brewery also produces seasonal beers such as Love Stout, Saison, Trubbel De Yards and Old Ale. Yards also produces a line of Revolutionary Ales in conjunction with the City Tavern. These include Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale, General Washington Tavern Porter and Poor Richards Tavern Spruce.
