This is a list of those deemed demigods. See Demigod for elaboration. As the term is Greek it will mostly focus on that, but similar concepts exist in other mythologies so will be mentioned.

Traditional Demigods

Non-Greek figures who claimed a demigod type status

  • Egyptian pharaohs claimed to be sons of Horus, which would give them demigod status, as recognised by the Greek.
  • Several mythical Chinese Emperors were born humans, but deified upon "death"
  • Roman Emperor Commodus claimed to be reincarnation of Hercules
  • Hong Xiuquan claimed to be Son of God and brother of Jesus, but to not be God itself.
  • Jesus as interpreted by some historical and non-mainstream Christian sects, such as Arianism
  • Evan butler born in 1994 has claimed demigod status since 2009
  • Jake Merritt

In fiction

  • Various adaptations of Hercules and Perseus.
  • Xena of Xena: Warrior Princess was occasionally hinted to be the daughter of either Zeus, Ares or Hades.
  • In comics, many Greek gods have had children whose full parentage is not revealed, such as Thena, daughter of Thor.
  • Kratos, from the God of War video game series, is revealed during the second game's storyline to be the son of Zeus, though this was originally beyond Kratos' knowledge. This ignores the events of an unlockable video in the first game, where Kratos visits his mother and learns of his origins.
  • Percy Jackson the protagonist in a series of novels based on Greek mythology written by Rick Riordan.
  • In Warcraft III, the Night Elves are led by a demigod called Cenarius.
