Louis François of France, (14 June 1672 – 4 November 1672) was a Fils de France and Duke of Anjou. He was the youngest son of Louis XIV.

Biography

Louis François de France was born in June 1672 at the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye outside Paris to Louis XIV of France and his Habsburg consort Marie Thérèse of Austria. He was the couple's third son and last child. As the second son, he was given the traditional title of Duke of Anjou, a title that had been previously held by his late older brother Philippe Charles who died in July 1671.

The little Duke of Anjou lived for under five months, dying at Saint-Germain in November the same year of his birth. Out of his five siblings, only his oldest brother Louis, le Grand Dauphin survived infancy and had issue; the next Duke of Anjou would be the future Philippe who became King of Spain in 1700 at the death of the childless Charles II of Spain. His claim was through the Louis François's mother. Another Duke of Anjou was the future Louis XV of France.

He died without a portrait of him ever having existed. He was buried at the Royal Basilica of Saint Denis, outside the capital. Saint Denis was the traditional burial place of the House of Bourbon.
