Luke Paul Anthony Newton (né Atkinson; born 5 February 1993)[1][2] is an English actor. He is known for his roles as Luke Attwood on the BBC Two drama The Cut and Ben Evans on the Disney Channel series The Lodge. In 2020, Newton began portraying the role of Colin Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton.
Early life
Newton is from Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. He has a younger sister, Lauren. Their parents divorced, and their mother Michelle remarried in 2006.[2] Newton attended Northbrook College Sussex (now part of Greater Brighton Metropolitan College)[3][4] and then the BRIT School in Croydon where he formed the boy band South 4 with Oli Reynolds (then Evans), Joel Baylis, and Henry Tredinnick.[5][6] He went on to train at the London School of Musical Theatre.[7]
Career
In 2010, Newton made his television debut in the BBC Two teen series The Cut as Luke Attwood, a role he portrayed for 11 episodes.[8] In 2014, he appeared in two episodes of the BBC soap opera Doctors as Sam Hern.[9][10] From 2016 to 2017, Newton starred in the Disney Channel series The Lodge as Ben Evans.[11][12] While appearing on the series, he was also featured on the two accompanying soundtrack albums.[13][14] In 2018, he starred in the Syfy television film Lake Placid: Legacy as Billy.[15] In 2020, he began starring in the Netflix series Bridgerton as Colin Bridgerton.[16][17][18]
Personal life
Newton has dyslexia.[19] He is in a relationship with Welsh stage actress Jade Davies, the older sister of Amber Davies.[20]
