M. R. Lalit Babu or Musunuri Lalit Babu (born in Vijayawada, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India)[1] is an Indian chess Grandmaster.

He won National rapid chess 2018 and silver medal in National blitz 2018.

He won the 55th Indian National Premier Chess Championship held in Patna, November 2017, effectively becoming the reigning Indian National Chess Champion. [2]

Lalith Babu achieved the International Master title at the Asian Junior Chess Championship in 2008 and his Grandmaster title after scoring norms at Balaguer in October 2008, Chennai Open in 2010 and Hasting Open in 2012.[3]

He competed in 41st Chess Olympiad Tromso, Norway 2014 winning team bronze. He won Leiden Championship in Netherlands 2009, Commonwealth bronze medal in New Delhi 2010. He won Barcelona Championship 2012.

He won the Commonwealth Chess Championship in 2012 at Chennai and won Chennai Super Kings International Chess Championship 2013. He slipped to third at the Hoogeveen Open with 6.5/9 after losing his last two games.[4]
