HLKV-AM (Hangul : MBC 중파라디오) also known as MBC Standard FM is a general (News, Current affairs, Sports, Drama) radio station of the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation. known as South Korea's first commercial radio station and known programs such as MBC Radio Nationwide News 7, Jung Joon-young's shimshimtapa radio, dreaming garret, missing night, midnight music box and Heo Kyung-hwan's Starry Starry Night. the station is also known for radio dramas.

History

  • August 25, 1961 - MBC AM Started Broadcasting (call sign HLKV, AM frequency 900 kHz Power 10 kW)
  • 1966 - MBC AM boosted power (10 kW → 50 kW)
  • 1987 December 15 - HLKV-SFM 95.9 MHz started broadcasting as a FM relay of MBC AM.
  • 1988 - MBC AM Started South Korea's first 24hr radio broadcast.
  • 2000 - Renamed as MBC 900AM.
  • 2002 - Digital tapeless system conversion completed.
