First Lady of Catalonia, Marcela Topor

Marcela Topor (Iași, Romania, 1977 or 1978) is a journalist, originally from Romania, wife of the president of the Catalan Government, Carles Puigdemont. She holds a degree in English philology from the University of Bucharest.[1] She met her husband at the International Festival of Amateur Theatre of Girona in 1998, in which she participated as an actress with the Ludic Theatre company.[1][2]

Topor is the editor of Catalonia Today, an English-language magazine and website based in Girona. She also hosts the television programme Catalan Connections, which features interviews in English with resident foreigners in Catalonia, broadcast on the El Punt Avui TV channel and posted to the Catalonia Today website.[3][4]

The couple have two daughters. Topor speaks Catalan, English, Spanish, and Romanian.
