The Marriage Alliance is an Australian anti-same-sex marriage lobby group based in Sydney, New South Wales. It is pro-monogamous marriage between a man and a woman as found in the Marriage Amendment Act 2004 No. 126, 2004.[1] It does not disclose individual or organisational supporters and members, however, it claims to represent 'the majority of Australians who, whilst respecting the choices of same-sex attracted people, do not wish to see any change to the definition of marriage.'

Campaigns

They have conducted an extensive and controversial anti-gay marriage campaign in the media and on social media:

  • Ads initially accepted for broadcast by Channels 7 and 10, with management of those channels later deciding to not do so,[2] were subsequently, and controversially, broadcast by Foxtel.[3]
  • a 'rainbow noose' advert 'claiming that same-sex marriage will increase suicide because people who are against it will be bullied over their views if it becomes law'. [4]
  • A YouTube presentation 'It's not as simple as you think'. [5]
  • anti-Safe Schools pamphlets. [6]

Other activities

They have also

  • published articles attacking proponents of gay marriage, such as Totalitarianism And The Hypocrisy Of The Homosexual Agenda. [7]
  • created an iOS and Android app to disseminate their material. [8][9][10]
