For advice on issues that do not require the use of administrative tools, such as content concerns or naming conventions, see the Village Pump.
To request assistance from a specific administrator, enter User talk:Whoever in the search box to the left (marked "Find") and press "Go".
Any user can request an image be added to the list, or can request an image be marked for inclusion in a given article, by leaving message on the talk page. Admins can add or remove images from the list, mark them for inclusion in a given article, or remove the ability to include them in a given article.
What these pages are not
The "Bad image list" is an administrative tool on Wikipedia, created to deal with a particular type of vandalism. Images on the list are excluded from all Wikipedia pages, except those where they will be useful. These pages are not the place to raise disputes over image sources, copyright, deletion, or encyclopedicity.
1. Copy the full image name (such as image:photo_name.jpg)
2. Click the link to make a request to restrict an image. Paste the image name in the message, along with the rationale for restricting the image (see the guidelines, below).
3. Show evidence that the image has been used for vandalism by providing appropriate diffs
4. Include the names of all articles and other pages where the image should still appear
5. Sign and date your contribution, using four tilde characters"~~~~", which is translated into a signature and a time stamp automatically.
1. To add an image to the list, go to the main message page, where the list is maintained
2. Click the edit link
3. Type a * and add the complete file name in double square brackets, preceded by a colon
4. Specify in which articles the image can still be used by typing "except on" and adding the article names in square brackets, separated by commas. Your complete entry will look like this: * :Image:Ampallang Piercing.jpg except on Penis, Ampallang
5. Go to the image page and add the following tag: badimage. This will let other users know that the image is restricted
