Mindaugas Sinkevičius (born 20 June 1984 in Jonava) is a Lithuanian politician, Mayor of Jonava.

Biography

He graduated 2003 from Jonavos Senamiesčio gimnazija. He graduated Vilnius University, Mykolas Romeris University and the ISM University of Management and Economics. The rest of free time was dedicated to the activities of non-governmental organizations. In 2008, due to the successful performance and initiative, he became a vice-president of the Lithuanian Youth Council (LiJOT). In 2007, elected to the municipal council of Jonava district. From April 2011 he was elected by municipal council in the age of 26 Mayor of Jonava district municipality.[1] He became a mayor of Jonava, perhaps the youngest mayor in the history of Lithuania.[2] In 2015, Sinkevičius was with 71,20 % votes direct elected mayor of Jonava District by Lithuanian Municipal Elections 2015.[3] Mindaugas Sinkevičius prepared und defended her doctoral dissertation “Alcohol Consumption in the Context of Conflicting Societal and Personal Factors“ on September 11, 2015 at ISM.[4]

A member of Lithuanian Social Democrats Party.

Family

Mindaugas is single. Mother Ligita is chief specialist at the Environmental Protection Agency under the Ministry of Environment. Father Rimantas Sinkevičius is a Member of Seimas and Minister of Transport and Communications at the Republic of Lithuania. Sister Rūta is assistant to Vilnius district court judge.
