Miral Samardžić (born 17 February 1987) is a Slovenian football defender who plays for Chinese club Henan Jianye.

Club career

Samardžić started playing football in Jesenice, aged 9. He started his professional career with NK Triglav Kranj at age 18. At the age of 19, he was considered one of the most talented defenders in Slovenia. As a consequence, numerous clubs showed interest in signing him, and in early 2007 he signed for NK Maribor. Following three seasons with Maribor, in 2010 he was signed by FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, where he stayed for four seasons. In July 2014, Samardžić signed for HNK Rijeka in Croatia.[1] He scored on his debut in Rijeka's 2–1 win against GNK Dinamo Zagreb in the 2014 Croatian Supercup. After two seasons with Rijeka, in June 2016, Samardžić transferred to Chinese Super League side Henan Jianye for a reported fee of €1.5 million.[2]

International career

Miral Samardžić was a member of the young Slovenian national team selections.[3] He made a début for the senior national team on 19 November 2013 against Canada and, as of 28 March 2016, he collected nine caps for Slovenia.[4]
