Miss Aquitaine is an annual beauty contest for young girls from the five departments of the old Aquitaine.
Miss France for the election of Miss France, broadcast on the channel TF1, at the beginning of December of each year.
Six Miss Aquitaine have been crowned Miss France:
- Agnès Souret, 1920
- Josiane Pouy, 1952 (as Miss Silver Coast)
- Frédérique Leroy, 1983 (as Miss Bordeaux)
- Peggy Zlotkowski, 1989
- Gaëlle Voiry, 1990
- Mellody Vilbert, 1995
Alsace, Lower Normandy, and Bretagne are tied with Aquitaine for the most Miss France pageant winners.
The regional delegate is Marilou Cubaynes, Miss Roussillon 2012 and semi-finalist at Miss France 2013.
History
After the separation between the Miss France committee and the Miss National Committee,[when?] the Miss Aquitaine committee decided to remain faithful to Geneviève de Fontenay (Miss Nationale). A new committee was then formed by the Miss France committee.
