Mobasseri is a surname originated from Azerbaijan region of Iran. The oldest known person from Mobasseri family with traceable documentation was "Ahmad", he used to be one of the known large land owners in Azerbaijan in the 19th and 20th century and was given the title of "Mobasser-Almolk" by Mozafferreddin Shah king of Persia (Ghadjar Dynasty) in the 19th century; Almolk literally means property or real estate.

Ahmad Mobasseri is believed to be from "Maleki" clan of Azerbaijani merchants. He then chose the last name of "Mobasseri" because of the title that the king of the time had given him.

Ahmad Mobasser-Almolk died in 1931 in Tabriz and is buried in the city of Najaf in current Iraq.

Ahmad Mobasser-Almolk had 15 children who survived childhood; 12 sons and 3 daughters.
