The Montana Museum of Art & Culture, or the MMAC, is a University of Montana art museum in Missoula with a collection of over 11,000 objects,[2] many of which are of the contemporary American West.[1] As of September 2015[update], Barbara Koostra served as the museum’s director.[3]

The university's art museum, divided into the Paxson Gallery and the Henry Meloy Gallery hosts traveling exhibitions and has a permanent collection of more than 9,500 works, with an emphasis on contemporary art from the West. A highlight is the magnificent tapestry titled Montana Horses by Missoulian Rudy Autio.

When the staff of the Montana Museum of Art and Culture was narrowing the Permanent Collection of more than 11,000‑some objects down to 120 for a 120th anniversary exhibition, many masters from across centuries didn't make the cut.
