The Moody International Group was a worldwide technical services organization that specialised in services to reduce risk in the oil and gas industry. It also served clients in power, mining, construction, engineering, chemical, food, and other industries.

in May 2011, Moody International was acquired by Intertek for £450 million.[1]

History[edit]

Established in the United States in 1911,[2] Moody initially focused on construction and electrical engineering projects. In the 1920s, with the development of the oil and gas industry, the company grew and became involved in inspection and other technical services. The first international office was opened in Japan in 1948 and expansion into Europe followed in the 1960s.

The company continued to grow throughout the 1990s and 2000s through organic growth and acquisition. It featured in the Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100 league table of the UK’s 100 private equity-backed mid-market companies with the fastest growing profits over two years, in 2007 and in 2008. At the time of the Intertek acquisition it had grown with 80 offices in over 60 countries, and was one of the world's largest multi-national technical service organisations.[citation needed]

Services[edit]

The company provided technical inspection services, technical training (through Randy Smith Training Solutions) and technical staffing services on a global basis, and management systems certification on a local basis.
