Morjampadu is a village in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in India with a population of around 15,000. One of the Major Panchayat in Machavaram Mandal. Agriculture is the main economy of this village. The main crops are Chilies, Cotton, Paddy and Pulses. Morjampadu is known for its educated people in the Palnadu region. There lots of people from decades have completed their education in Premier institutes.

Overview

Morjampadu originated from the obsolete village Akuraju Palli in the 15th century.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy, inaugurated Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Lift irrigation scheme on 28th Feb 2009 in Morjampadu village.Aim of this scheeme is to create irrigation facility for upland area of around 5,000 acres (20 km2) and also to mitigate the problem of drinking water in the village.

Climate

It is generally hot and humid during summer with temperatures ranging between 35-50 C. Winters are milder with temperatures between 10 and 18 C. Moderate rains expected between July and Nov during monsoon time.

Economy

The village holds a huge middle class, making up more than 90% of the total population. Major income source is Agriculture with one to two crops around the year.[citation needed]

Bugga Maleswara Swami Temple - This is an Ancient temple where a Bugga ( a water pond ) is near to the Shiva Lingam. The size is 1M x 1 M and the water is refilled automatically if you remove the water at any time. The Dharmakarta of this temple is an ancient Brahmin family name as " MANDADI " family. They are the Dharmakarta's and the Archka's. Every Shivaratri will be celebrated with high rituals in this temple .
