Netta Aloni (Hebrew: נטע אלוני; born 1945) is a contemporary Israeli composer who composes for vocal and instrumental ensembles. He has written chamber, choral and instrumental works for solo and group ensembles.

Formal education

Aloni studied musical composition with the Israeli composer Andre Hajdu, and had continued his studies with the Israeli composers Reuven Sarrousy, Betty Oliviero and Gideon Levinson. He had taken supplementary courses in Composition at the Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

Performances and awards

Aloni's work is performed in Israel and abroad. His compositions were recorded by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority and were broadcast over the Radio, on the "Voice of Music" station in Israel, which is devoted to broadcasting both classic and contemporary Classical Music by foreign and Israeli composers. His work: "I Have Told Myself Completely" was chosen to represent the Israel Broadcasting Authority in the International Rostrum of Composers.[1] He is the recipient, among 5 others, of the 2013 "Composition by Classical Composers" Award sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and given the by the Israeli Prime Minister[2].

Published work

Four full-length CDs of Netta Aloni were published so far:

  • "Moments with Myself" (1996) contains compositions for Piano and Flute performed by Israeli Pianist Ora Rotem-Nelken, and Israeli Flautist Edith Shemer.
  • "Five Vocal Pieces" (2000) contains pieces sung by Mira Zakai (accompanied by Pianist Ora Rotem-Nelken) and pieces for voice and instrumental ensemble sung by Esti Keinan and Avital Raz.
  • "Breathless'" (2007) consists of pieces composed exclusively for the Bayan.
  • "The Empty Rooms (2012), his latest release, is a double-album which collects his most recent compositions from the years 1999-2012. The album includes a string quintet; two song cycles for voice and piano; chamber compositions for violin and piano, cello and bayan, and solo pieces. The pieces were recorded at the Jerusalem Music Center in Mishkenot Sha'ananim.

Work as a psychoanalyst

Netta Aloni is also a practising psychoanalyst in Jerusalem, where he resides.
