Ninety One or 91 (Kazakh: Тоқсан бір, transliteration: Toqsan bir) is a Kazakhstan Q-pop boy band formed by JUZ Entertainment in 2015.[1] The band consists of five members: A.Z. (Azamat Zenkayev), ALEM (Batyrkhan Malikov), ACE (Azamat Ashmakyn), ZaQ (Dulat Mukhametkaliev), BALA (Daniyar Kulumshin). Ninety One is the founder of a new musical genre called Q-POP (Qazaq-pop, Kazakh pop), which originates from Western pop music.[2] The band is produced by Erbolat Bedelkhan, who is a member of the Kazakh musical group "ORDA".[3]

History

2015: Debut with Ayiptama!

The group was founded in 2014, based on the "K-Top Idols" project, the main goal of which was creating idol groups. A.Z. and ZaQ were the winners of this project. BALA and ALEM were cast via a separate process. ACE joined the group after training for 2.5 years at the S.M. Entertainment agency (Korean: SM엔터테인먼트) in South Korea. Initially the band was called KTI-boys, but, after a year and a half, they changed the group name to Ninety One and released their debut single, Aiyptama! (English: Don't judge!), on September 1, 2015. The new name refers to the year 1991 when Kazakhstan won its independence from the former Soviet Union. The music video for Aiyptama! (English: Don't judge!) was released on October 8, 2015. Aiyptama! (English: Don't judge!) led the charts of Kazakhstan's music channels for 20 weeks.[4] On December 1, 2015, they released their first EP, also called Aiyptama. This mini-album consists of 6 songs.[5]

2016: Kaitadan (Again)

On June 2, 2016 they released a new music video for the song "Kaytadan" (English: Again), which is currently the chart leader on Gakku TV. At the moment, the group is working on their first full-length album. Moreover, they want to rewrite the song «Lady», from the repertoire of the group ORDA and shoot a music video for an additional song.

2017: M.B.B.A.B.B.D

On January 1, 2017 they released "M.B.B.A.B.B.D" ("Makhabbat Bar Bul Alemde Bakytty Bol Degen", "Махаббат бар бұл әлемде Бақытты бол деген" English: "Be glad there is a love in this world") with Ninety One producer Erbolat Bedelkhan making a guest appearance. More lyrical, this song does not feature rapping. Because Ninety One is focused on their new album (Qarangy zharyq) they haven't organized concerts, fan-meetings or autograph signings yet this year. There is no music video for MBBABBD.

2017: Su asty and film

On May 1st 2017, Ninety One released the track “Su Asty” (English: Underwater). The music video premiered on May on 1 NTK TV. Erbolat Bedelkhan, Ninety One's producer explained: "This song was made as an answer for haters." Their new album "Qarangy zharyq," is due out soon.[6]

On August 24, 2017 «91» The movie was released. the band plays themselves in the film and its shows about the difficulties experienced by NINETY ONE on how they recovered and became famous for the hate and hard times that Antifans and the people around them had experienced.
