Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (Russian: Нижегородский государственный технический университет им. Р. Е. Алексеева, NNSTU) is a public technical university located in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The NNSTU was founded in 1917, the university was renamed in honour of a famous alumni, Rostislav Alexeyev, in 1992.

History

In 1898, Warsaw was opened Warsaw University of Technology. In 1915, in connection with the events of the First World War, it was evacuated to Nizhny Novgorod.[1][2] It was renamed by Nizhny Novgorod University of Technology, in 1918.[3] In 1918 was founded State University of Nizhny Novgorod.It absorbed: the "Nizhny Novgorod University of Technology", the Higher agricultural courses, and subsequently entered medical courses and Higher Pedagogical Institute.On the technical departments of the university taught M. A. Bonch-Bruevich, V.P. Vologdin, I.R. Braitsev, G.V. Trinkler, etc. And in 1930 Mechanical Engineering Institute and the Institute of Chemical Technology were separated from the State University of Nizhny Novgorod. Also separately were created: Construction Institute, Pedagogical Institute, the Institute of Agriculture and the Institute of Medicine.In 1934, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute of Chemical Technology will integrate were the Gorky Institute of Industrial.The university was renamed in "Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University by R.E.Alexeyev", in 1992.
