NorthWood High School is a high school located in Nappanee, Indiana, United States. It is a part of the Wa-Nee Community School System, shared with Wakarusa.
Athletics
NorthWood High School's mascot is the Panther and its colors are red and black. NorthWood competes in the Northern Lakes Conference along with Concord, Elkhart Memorial, Goshen, Northridge, Wawasee, Plymouth, and Warsaw.
NorthWood, in football, has won 15 sectional championships, nine regional championships, six semi-state championships, and one state championship. In 2003, the Panthers were state finalists in football, and in 2005 won the state championship, both times facing Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.[2]
The boys' tennis team won back to back sectional championships in both 2006 and 2007. The girls' tennis team has also won several sectional championships.[citation needed]
NorthWood's boys' soccer team has captured sectional championships in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2014. In 2007 the boys' soccer team made it to the final 32 teams to still compete in the state playoffs.
Music
NorthWood competes in ISSMA contests. The marching band, called the Red Regiment, has won several awards.[which?] The school has several choices when it comes to vocal music. They have a show choir called Dawning Generation and a cappella group, Main Street Voices. They perform at community events including the annual maple syrup festival in Wakarusa.
Academics
From 2004 to 2008, the spell bowl team has been the Northern Lakes Conference champions.[citation needed] During the 2007-2008 year four academic teams participated in the state competition. Two of them won state titles.
The Logue staff has won awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association by Columbia University in New York City.
