Oomph (coffee maker)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oomph is a portable coffeemaker.

History[edit]

Oomph was launched on Kickstarter in November 2015 by Matthew Deasy. It raised £61,090, 234% of the initial target.[1] The product appeared on Dragons' Den in 2017. Jenny Campbell invested £40,000 in return for a 15% stake in the business.[2][3]

The company producing the Oomph closed in April 2022, citing the death of one of its founders and financial supporters, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic as having affected the company.

Funcionality[edit]

The device is plastic and measures 230 x 83 x 83 mm and weighs 0.613 kg. It has a rubber plunger which, when pushed, forces hot water through the ground coffee and into a second chamber. As the device has two chambers, the brewed coffee is no longer in contact with the coffee grounds. The device can then be used as a portable cup.[4]
