The Order of Montreal (French: Ordre de Montréal) is a Canadian civil award established on May 16, 2016 by the Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre.[1][2]

The city held a design competition for artists to design the medal awarded to each honouree of the Order of Montreal.[3]

The Order of Montreal succeeded the Académie des Grands Montréalais, a private award created in 1978 by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and terminated in 2015.[2] All members of that order will become Order of Montreal honorees.[3]
