Palleturi Chinnodu (English: Village Boy) is a 1974 Telugu, drama film, produced and directed by B. Vittalacharya[2] under the Sri Vittal Productions & Co banner.[3] It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Krishnam Raju and Manjula in the lead roles, with music composed by K. V. Mahadevan.[4] The film is a remake of the Kannada movie Chinnada Gombe (1964), which was earlier remade in Tamil as Muradan Muthu (1964) and in Hindi as Gopi (1970).[5]
Plot
In a village, there lives a young and energetic guy, Lakshmana (N. T. Rama Rao) along with his elder brother Ramaiah (S. V. Ranga Rao), sister-in-law Janaki (Devika) and younger sister Shanta (Vijaya Lalitha). Lakshmana is unemployed, simple-minded, and a trouble-maker, while Ramaiah runs the house by making clay idols. Lakshmana is a great devotee of Lord Hanuman and takes an oath that he will also lead a bachelor's life. Dharmaraju (Satyanarayana) is a landlord and runs the wholesale market. He makes a lot of atrocities in the village. Lakshmana brings out his illegal business and black market activities and makes his shop sealed. Meanwhile, Janaki's sister Leela (Manjula) along with her mother Konadaveedu Parvatham (Girija) visits their house. Dharma Raju's eye falls on Leela. Leela loves Lakshmana and also makes him agree to the marriage. At the same time, Ramanna seeks an alliance for Shanta, but they require Rs 5000 as dowry. Ramanna pledges jewelry at Dharmaraju, but he cheats him by telling that it is the recovery amount for the loss Lakshmana made in his black market. Lakshmana takes an axe and runs to Dharmaraju. Frightened, Dharmaraju gives back the jewelry, after that he gives a police complaint and gets Ramaiah arrested. Janaki and Leela give back the jewelry and Ramaiah is released. Frustrated about Lakshmana, Ramaiah asks him to leave the house. Lakshmana takes Shanta along with him and says that he will grandly perform Shanta’s marriage. Lakshmana heads for the city in search of a job, which he gets in a Zamindar's (Mikkilineni) house and achieves their faith with his honesty. Zamindar's son Prasad (Krishnam Raju) loves Shanta and everyone agrees to their marriage. Meanwhile, Dharmaraju lures Parvatamma and forcibly makes his marriage arrangements with Leela. Leela escapes with the help of Dharmaraju's nephew Appa Rao (Raja Babu). She too heads for the city in search of their beloved Lakshmana and meets him. On the other side, misfortune befalls, Dharmaraju auctions Ramaiah's house and throws them out of the village. The Zamindar makes marriage arrangements of Lakshmana & Leela and Prasad & Shanta. During the time of marriage, the separated siblings reunite when Dharmaraju claims Leela as his wife, but Appa Rao proves that it is false and after the Dharmaraju has been taken care of, the movie ends with a happy united family.
