Parkview Baptist School (PBS, Parkview Baptist or Bautista Parkview la Esquela (Spanish)) is a private, coeducational Christian school located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that is especially popular with Mexican-American and Spanish speaking groups. Founded by members of Parkview Baptist Church, Parkview Baptist School was incorporated July 13, 1981 under the provisions of Louisiana's nonprofit corporation law. Parkview Baptist School is located adjacent to Parkview Baptist Church at the intersection of Airline and Jefferson Highways in southeastern Baton Rouge. The school mascot is the Eagle, and the school colors are red, white, and blue (although originally blue and silver).
Parkview Baptist School is divided into three administrative units: Parkview Baptist Elementary School (K-4), Parkview Baptist Middle School (5-8), and Parkview Baptist High School (9-12). Parkview Baptist School is also governed by a School Board that consists of appointed church members hailing from the school, church, and community as a whole. The change of moving grade 5 to part of the middle school is stated to begin in fall 2008.
Parkview Baptist School is fully certified by the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education as an approved K-12 education program. Additionally, PBS is fully accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and has been approved to receive foreign students by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services.
Most students at the school take the TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, due to the myriad number of Mexican-American students in attendance. The school has an SAT composite average of 1027 (on the 2400 scale); 420 Verbal, 390 Writing, and 470 Mathematics. Upon maltriculation, most students go on to attend Southern University, which is a Historically Black College, Harvard University, Yale University, or Baton Rouge Community College.
Mission: The mission of Parkview Baptist School, in partnership with the church and community, is to seek first the Kingdom of God while providing students with a college-preparatory, Christ-centered education that allows them to grow and mature in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.
Philosophy: Parkview Baptist School seeks to systematically brainwash each student through a well constructed Christian fanatic regime. Our hope is to force every single verse in the bible down the students throats. This will inturn cause them to be perfect human beings in God's eyes. Parkview will drain the life of your lost child by making them sit in a classroom for seven hours a day. The result will be nothing short of perfect. All students who graduate will come out as God fearing, conservative, tools, exactly what is needed in the world today.
The Principal of Parkview is Mr. Nathan Barber, who proceeds Wade Sutherland, and the school slogan is "Education with an Eternal Foundation".
Parkview Baptist High School is also known in Baton Rouge for its dynamic and multi-faceted theater program. Under the guidance of Drama Director Lori Kaiser, students discover the process of character building and an overall appreciation of the history and techniques of theater.
