Pedro Morales y Mercado was a 17th-century Spanish emigrant and official in the Río de la Plata, Argentina.

Biography

Born in the 17th century in Ciudad de Rodrigo, Spain, Pedro Morales y Mercado was the son of Juan de Morales y Mercado and Blanca Enriquez de Soria.[1] relative of House of Enríquez.[2] in 1630s he moved to Buenos Aires, was appointed Captain in the fort of city. His wife was María Manzanares y Aguilar, daughter of Government official Francisco de Manzanares y Dardos and his wife Leonor de Aguilar.

Pedro Morales y Mercado has held various senior positions during the Viceroyalty of Peru, served as Lieutenant Governor, Chief Justice,[3] Mayor, Alferez Real, and Treasurer of Buenos Aires.[4]
