Phiona Nyamutoro
Phiona Nyamutoro is a Ugandan politician and legislator representing the Youth in the parliament of Uganda, she is the National female youth Member of parliament in the parliament of Uganda. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) on whose ticket she got to parliament.[1][2][3][4][5][6] She is also the current Minister of state for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, to which she was appointed on 22 March 2024.
Background and education[edit]
Nyamutoro holds a first class degree in Arts (Luganda, Sociology) and a master's degree in public administration from Makerere university.[7] She went to Najjera progressives for her primary school education, Misanvu SS in Kibinge Bukomansimbi for O'level and Maleku Secondary school for A'level.[7]
Career[edit]
Nyamutoro was a vice guild president while Makerere University 2015 -2016.
She was also a member of the National Youth council representing Nebbi district. Nyamutoro is the first National youth Member of Parliament hailing from Nebbi district.[1][2]
Nyamutoro is also a champion of anti pregnancy and Gender issues.[7][8]
In the 11th parliament, she is a member of the committee on education and sports.[9]
She was appointed Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development as part of the cabinet reshuffle by President Museveni[10]
