Kukkuteswara Temple

Pithapuram temple is situated at Pithapuram area in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. It is located 75 km from city Rajahmundry and only 20 km from Kakinada. The location is popular for various Hindu temples. Pithapuram temple is among one of them. The main deity of this Hindu temple is Kukkuteshwara Swamy.

History

However, there is no evidence available regarding the construction history of this ancient temple, but it is believed to be built in Shatvahana period by a local Andhra Bhrutya king. The temple is also famous for its “single stone Nandi” and a “self originated Shiva Linga”.
