The Pittsburgh Marathon is a 26.2 mile foot race (marathon) held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States. The race was held annually from 1985–2003 (most recently as the UPMC/City of Pittsburgh Marathon), and will be held again on May 3, 2009 as the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.[1] The course winds through the hilly topography of the city and usually starts and ends at Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh. Numerous other Pittsburgh neighborhoods are along the route, including Oakland, Shadyside, East Liberty, Highland Park, Bloomfield, Lawrenceville, the Strip District, and the North Shore.

The 2009 race will have largest field in the history of the race. Registration has been closed with 3,500 entrants in the full marathon, 3,500 entrants in the half marathon, and 2,000 entrants in the marathon relay.
