Pnina Tamano-Shata (Hebrew: פנינה תמנו-שטה, born 1981) is an Israeli lawyer, activist and politician. A member of Yesh Atid, she was placed fourteenth on the party's list for the 2013 Knesset elections.[1] After the party won 19 seats, she will become the first Ethiopian-born woman to hold a Knesset seat.[2]

Biography

Tamano-Shata immigrated from Ethiopia to Israel at the age of three.[2] She studied law at Ono Academic College, and became Deputy Chairman of the national Ethiopian Student Association.[3] She later worked as a reporter for Channel 1.[4]
