After forty years of peace, the Israelites again turn away from God are attacked by Midianites and Amalekites. God chooses Gideon, to destroy the altar of Baal. He gathers men from the tribes of Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, as well as his own tribe Manasseh in order to meet the Midianites and the Amalekites.
