Prajakta Koli (born 27 June 1993)[1] is an Indian YouTube personality and video blogger. She is popularly known by her YouTube name MostlySane. Since starting her YouTube channel in February 2015, her videos have received over 100 million views and over 2.4 million subscribers. She is one of India’s female comedy creators on YouTube.[2]

Career

Prajakta worked at Fever 104 station as an intern for a while.[3] She met with Hrithik Roshan at the radio station which changed everything for her. She made a video with him and got spotted by India’s premier digital content network, One Digital Entertainment. After much contemplation on her part as well as a continuous push from the network, Prajakta launched her YouTube channel on 12 February 2015[4].

Her videos are mostly comical takes on her observation of everyday life situations.[5] She has collaborated with fellow YouTuber creators like Collins Key, BB Ki Vines, BeYouNick, Rishssome, Gaurav Gera, Shruti Arjun Anand, The Rajat Code, Captain Nick, Sejal Kumar, and Ashish Chanchalani among others.[6] She has also worked with actors Ayushmann Khurana,kajol,John Abraham,Manoj Bajpayee,Ayush Mehra & Hrithik Roshan.[7]

She was part of Girliyapa YouTube channel's web series PA Gals - Season I. She was announced as the 'Viral Queen' of 2017 at the IWM Digital Awards.[8]

In May 2018, Prajakta was announced as the Indian Ambassador for YouTube's global initiative, 'Creators For Change', which deals with problems like hate speech, xenophobia and extremism.[9][10]

She has recently been signed up as the face of H&M India’s online store.[citation needed]. She attended India's WebFest recently in 2018

Social initiatives

On World Mental Health Day in 2016, Prajakta launched her campaign #iPledgeToBeMe which addresses mental health well being and body shaming. Through her video, she appealed to her viewers that she would like them to share with her their experiences around body shaming. She was flooded with emails and comments appreciating her for the effort. To take the campaign forward she wrote a rap song ‘Shameless’, which was released in May 2017. The video has clocked over four million views and features Raftaar, Raghav Juyal, RJ Mallishka, Gaurav Gera, Mithila Palkar, Sahil Khattar.[11]

Prajakta has been part of several campaigns like #GirlsCount for One.Org which was started by Bono from U2 where she spoke about the importance of girl’s education. She also participated in YouTube’s Safer Internet Week where she addressed cyberbullying.[12] She was also one of the four YouTube creators from India invited by the Obama Foundation to attend the town hall meeting by President Obama.

Personal life

Prajakta was born on June 27, 1993. She was born and raised in Mumbai and finished her schooling from Vasant Vihar High School, Thane. She completed her graduation in Bachelors of Mass Media from V. G. Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce, popularly known as Kelkar College in Mulund.[13]
