Progressive Academy is a private day school in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The school teaches students from pre-school to Grade 9. It is accredited and funded by Alberta Education (Alberta's provincial department of education).[1][2] The school uses Study Technology, which is licensed from Applied Scholastics,[3] a non-profit corporation founded in 1972 to promote the use of study techniques created by L. Ron Hubbard the founder of the Church of Scientology. The school is secular,[3] and co-ed.

Progressive Academy is a member of the Association for Independent Schools and Colleges of Alberta (AISCA), which is an advocacy organization for private schools in Alberta.[4]

Progressive Academy’s Junior Kindergarten program is licensed by Alberta Child and Family Services to operate a daycare facility and an out-of-school care program.[5] The Junior Kindergarten and out-of-school care programs are also accredited by the Alberta Association for the Accreditation of Early Learning and Care Services (AELCS), on behalf of the Alberta Government.[6]

The school's connection to Scientology has been highlighted by those critical of using provincial funding for private schools.[3]
