"Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down"
Song

"Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" is a song by the band Brand Nubian included on their 1993 album In God We Trust. The song was later included on their 2001 greatest hits compilation album, The Very Best of Brand Nubian. The song samples "Gonna Fly Now" by Bill Conti and "It's Your Thing" by Lou Donaldson.

The track created controversy because of its homophobic content such as Sadat X's line "I can freak, fly, flow, fuck up a faggot/I don't understand their ways; I ain't down with gays." Despite of this, the single charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 77. Later versions omitted the line and replaced it with different lyrics, including the version on The Very Best of Brand Nubian.
