Qasim Sultan Al Banna has been Director General of Dubai Municipality from 1993 to 2006. He started his career in Dubai municipality as Assistant Engineer in 1960, he was promoted to Assistant Director of the Technical Sector, and progressed successively to the posts of Deputy Director, Acting Director, and Director General of the Municipality from 1993 to 2006. He then took over all infrastructure development in Dubai (including the creation of Shiekh Zayed Road and Emirates road) and was a key figure in the establishment in the new government revenue outlook.
He is also a key sports figure as he is the president of al Ahli club and the head of the UAE basketball association.
