Rayl (also, Hackstaff and Liegan) is a former settlement in Lassen County, California.[1] It was located 9 miles (14 km) north of Doyle.[1]

The Rayl post office opened in 1915, changed its name to Hackstaff in 1922, and closed in 1922.[1] The name Rayl honored David Rayl, local hotelier and merchant.[1]
