Remuneration is the compensation that one receives in exchange for the work[disambiguation needed] or services performed; not to be confused with giving (away), or donating, or the act of providing to. A number of complementary benefits, however, are increasingly popular remuneration mechanisms. Remuneration is one component of reward management.
Remuneration can include:
- Compensation methods (in online advertising and internet marketing)
- Employee stock option
- Employee benefits
- Wages (Specifically defined in the Internal Revenue Code at Title 26 U.S.C. § 3401(a))
- Wage (remuneration is referenced only as a synonym of wage [see syn. at bottom of Websters Dictionary page here])
The word "remuneration" is often misspelled as "renumeration", which simply means counting or re-counting.
