Rendavathu Padam (Tamil: ரெண்டாவது படம்; English: Second Film) is a Tamil film written and directed by C. S. Amudhan. The film stars Vimal, Aravind Akash, Richard,[1] along with Vijayalakshmi. The team has completed the shooting. The movie has not yet been released due to financial troubles.[2]

Sources in late October 2011 disclosed that Amudhan was working on his second film, which too was supposed to be a spoof. According to reports, the film was titled as Thalavali and was to feature look-alikes of lead Tamil actors Vijay and Ajith Kumar in the lead roles.[3][4] The claims were denied by Amudhan, who officially announced his second film as Rendavathu Padam ten days later, clarifying that the film would not be a spoof.[5] Photo shoots began by the end of November 2011.[6]

Prior to the announcement, Amudhan had already selected Vimal, Aravind Akash and Richard for the lead roles; the lead actresses had not been finalized then.[7] In December 2011, Vijayalakshmi was chosen for the lead female role.[8] Sanjana Singh, who had previously appeared in Renigunta, was also selected to play another role in the film.[9] The crew revealed that the film would be shot at Chennai, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Malaysia, Bangkok.[10] The satellite rights of 'Rendavathu Padam' have been secured by Sun TV for an undisclosed price.[11]

Soundtrack is composed by Kannan collaborating with Amudhan for second time after Thamizh Padam. The audio was launched on 30 March 2013 at Sathyam Cinemas. The event’s chief guest apart from the film’s elaborate cast and crew was the high profile cinematographer turned director, K. V. Anand and Siddharth. The event showcased a couple of songs from the film in addition to the theatrical trailer.[12]
