Rikhado Makhado (born 20 July 1987), better known by his stage name Riky Rick but recently changed to King Kotini, is a South African rapper, actor, writer, composer and record producer. He was born in KwaMashu, KwaZulu-Natal. His debut studio album Family Values was released on April 3, 2015. He is signed to his own independent label and record company, Makhado Makhado Agency.Distributing & Marketing through Mabala Noise Entertainment by DJ BongzHe was educated at Hilton College.

Career

Music career

Riky Rick's first side of music began at a recording studio session with Bongani Fassie. It was by Bongani's side that Rick was inspired to make his own music.[1]

That is when he released his first single Barbershop featuring Da L.E.S.[2] He then rose to fame by the release of his hit single Nafukwa which was a big success.[3] He then released Amantombozane which was followed by Amantombozane (Remix) featuring fellow South African recording artists OkMalumkoolKat, Maggz, Kwesta, Ginger Bread Man, Kid X, Nadia Nakai and DJ Dimplez.[4]

He then released his major debut single Boss Zonke which was a major success, having peaked at number 3 on the SA Hip Hop Top Ten List. That is when he released his fifth hit single Sondela which was dedicated to his real love, featuring Zano.[5] The music video for Sondela featured his son Maik, as well as Pearl Thusi. In September 2015, At the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015, he won the award for best video for his hit song Nafukwa.

In October 2015, he released a single titled Fuseg, featuring fellow South African hip hop musicians Cassper Nyovest, and Anatii.

Earlier that year, he released his debut studio album Family Values which became a success. Family Values was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa for shipments of over 20,000 copies.

On the 26th Of June, Ricky unleashed his Critically Acclaimed Single, Sidlukotini.[6]

Personal life

Riky Rick suffered with an alcohol and drug addiction for a long period of time.[7] He has now been clean for over years. His first born son, Maik Daniel Makhado[8] appears on the Family Values album cover.
