River pocket

The term river pocket is used in Australia to refer to an area of land enclosed within the bend of a river, especially where the bend is extended or pronounced and the only road access is along the isthmus.
Examples
Examples are Fig Tree Pocket, Long Pocket, Priors Pocket, Sapling Pocket and Wivenhoe Pocket all on the Brisbane River.
