The Roman Catholic Diocese of Florida (Latin: Dioecesis Floridensis) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic church in Uruguay.

History

The diocese was erected in 1897 as the diocese of Melo from the diocese of Montevideo. In 1931, the name was changed to the diocese of Florida-Melo. Finally in 1955, the diocese was split into the Diocese of Melo and the Diocese of Florida.[1][2]

The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Montevideo. Its see is at the Cathedral of Florida.

The current bishop is Martín Pablo Pérez Scremini, who was appointed in March 2008.
