The Ruby crossing or রুবি মোর is at a very vital juncture of the city. It is north of the Jadavpur police station - E.M. Bypass crossing (known as Avishikta).[1][2]


Connectivity

Ruby crossing is one of the most important transit points of Kolkata. The western road connects Gariahat with Bypass and the eastern road connects the very fast developing side of Anandapur and The East Calcutta township. The northern road takes to an important transit point, the science city crossing, and further north with airport, Rajarhat and Saltlake. The southern road is towards the southern locality of Santoshpur, Patuli, Garia and further south Sonarpur and Baruipur.

Developments

Major offices like those of Toyota, Emami, passport office have come up in the area. Nearby Anandapur is getting a major uplift through projects including the tallest residential tower in Kolkata - URBANA. The hotel gateway is at the crossing. It is one of the five-star hotel in the city.

The area has renowned hospitals like the Ruby General Hospital, from which the crossing gets its name, Desun Hospital and Fortis Hospital.

The Ruby crossing is now known as the "New Dalhousie" of Kolkata because of the number of new offices coming up and its major infrastructural developments like widening of roads and new metro route under construction.
