SCS Software is a Czech video game development company. It primarily produces simulation games for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux, including the 18 Wheels of Steel and Euro Truck Simulator series.
Games
SCS developed the Prism3D game engine, which is used for all their games.[2]
Bus Simulator
SCS released a bus driving simulator, Bus Driver, in 2007.[2] Later in 2014, an iOS version of Bus Driver was released, entitled Bus Driver - Pocket Edition.[3]
18 Wheels of Steel
The 18 Wheels of Steel series is based on truck driving in North America, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and features long nose trucks.[4] These games include Across America, Pedal to the Metal, Convoy, Haulin', American Long Haul, and Extreme Trucker 1 and Extreme Trucker 2. The 18 Wheels of Steel games from 2003 - 2005 were the 3D era games. The games after Convoy became the HD Series that lasted from 2006 - 2011.
Euro Truck Simulator series
The Euro Truck Simulator series includes both the original game, Euro Truck Simulator, published in 2008, and its sequel game, Euro Truck Simulator 2, which was released in 2012.[5] Both games focus on truck driving in European countries, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.[6][7][8]
SCS Software has released a number of maps as downloadable content (DLC) for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The first DLC, "Going East!", was released in late 2013 and includes a number of Eastern European countries; adding Slovakia and Hungary and expanding on Poland.[9][10] A further map-expansion for the Scandinavia; including Denmark, Norway and Sweden; was released on 6 May 2015.[10][11] The update also included licensed Mercedes-Benz trademarks and branding.[12]
American Truck Simulator
Following the success of the Euro Truck Simulator series SCS announced that the next game in the series would be American Truck Simulator, released February 3rd, 2016. However, it released early on February 2nd, 2016. The game features officially licensed American and long nose trucks; including models by Peterbilt, and Kenworth, with Volvo and Freightliner trucks likely to be added later on.[13][14][15][16] The game released with California and Nevada, with plans to release other states as DLC later on; Arizona will be the first.
Other software
SCS Software has also released several other software products, including several hunting games such as the arcade deer hunting game Deer Drive and the Hunting Unlimited series.[17][18]
