Sekolah Menengah Sains Teluk Intan or SEMESTI (Teluk Intan Science School) is one of the fully residential schools that was built on 1980. This school is located 13 miles from the Teluk Intan town and has an area of 21.5 hectare. Students started enrolling into this school in 1984.

History

The early work on building this science school started on September 1980. Upon the completion of this school, the first batch of students was admitted in 1984. The 425 students were from Form 1, Form 4, and Australian English Test (AET) students. The principal at that time was Tuan Haji Noor bin Bakar PJK, who started to give his commitment to the school as the first principal on 1 February 1984. In 1985, GCE-A students started to enroll into this school.

SEMESTI had made brilliant academic records. In the 1986 SPM, with the 100% pass rate (180 students with Grade I, 6 with Grade II and 5 with Grade III), SEMESTI was crowned with the best SPM result in Malaysia. 1987 SPM was another glory year for its academics; with another 100% pass rate (130 students with Grade I and 3 students with Grade II), SEMESTI had the second best SPM result in Malaysia.[1]
