Salacia oblonga is a strangling shrub native to India and Sri Lanka.[2] In traditional medicines it is used for the treatment of diabetes.[3] A study showed its extract may be beneficial for type 2 diabetes after a high-carbohydrate meal.[4] Another study suggested that 1000 mg of salacia oblonga extract following a meal after 12 hours of fasting could reduce blood glucose levels, while a dosage of 750 mg extract showed no impact.[5]
