Salam Ranjan Singh (born 4 December 1995) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Bengaluru, on loan from Pune, in the I-League. Singh is very strong in the air and has excellent positional sense.[1]

Career

Youth

Born in Kha-Potessangbam, Manipur, Singh started playing football as a striker before being converted into a central defender by his local football coach, Shiband Sir.[1] During an All-Manipur Inter-District tournament Singh was spotted by Maniratnam, a coach who is part of the Directorate of Youth and Sports Affairs in Manipur, who advised Singh to attend the Pune Academy trials in Imphal.[1] He then trialed for a spot in the academy and became successful in said trial.[1] While with the Pune FC Academy, Singh helped the side to win two back-to-back I-League U20 titles in 2012 and 2013.[2] Then, on 11 May 2013, Singh won the Under-19 Best Disciplined Player award during the Pune awards night.[3]

Pune

Before the 2013–14 I-League season began it was announced that Singh would be promoted to the Pune senior squad for the new campaign.[4] Singh then made his professional debut for the club on 2 November 2013 against Sporting Goa in the I-League in which he came on in the 21st minute for Calum Angus as Pune lost the match 0–2.[5]

Bengaluru loan

On 23 October 2015, Singh left Pune to join fellow I-League side Bengaluru on loan.[6]
