Oleksandr "Sasha" Borovik (Template:Lang-uk) is an American lawyer. He is an adviser to the governor of Odessa Oblast, Mikheil Saakashvili.

Born in Lviv on 7 April 1968,[1] Borovik studied at Lviv University's Faculty of Foreign Languages until spring 1990 when he decided to move to Prague, Czechoslovakia.[2] After studying at Prague University, he joined a law firm which worked with the government on preparations to join the European Union.[3] He later graduated from Harvard Law School and worked as the head lawyer for Microsoft Worldwide Public Sector organization in Seattle.[4][5] In March 2014, he moved to London and became Akamai Technologies' EMEA general counsel.[5]

Borovik was granted Ukrainian citizenship early March 2015 by president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.[6] From March to mid-May 2015, Borovik worked as an adviser at Ukraine's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.[7] In June 2015, the governor of Odessa Oblast, Mikheil Saakashvili, appointed him as his adviser.[8][9] On 4 may 2016 he resigned from the post of Odessa Regional Administration deputy head because the law that banned state officials to have any citizenship other than Ukrainian had came into into effect on 1 May 2016 and Borovik did not wanted to revoke his German citizenship.[10] I did stated he would remain Saakashvili's advisor.[10]

In the October 2015 Odessa mayoral election Borovik tried to get elected mayor of Odessa as a candidate of Petro Poroshenko Bloc.[11] Incumbent Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov defeated him with 52.9% against 25.7% in the first round of the mayoral election.[11] In the (simultaneously held) local election he was number one of the electoral list of Petro Poroshenko Bloc and elected into Odessa's city council.[1][10]
